Department of Environmental Science and Department of Economics, Deshbandhu College for Girls jointly organized a webinar entitled
‘Distinguished Lecture Programme’ on 10th July, 2021 that was hosted on StreamYard and broadcasted Live on YouTube. The global
pandemic had restricted our activities to the safe corners of our home, and introduced us to a new paradigm of virtual workplace, a drastic
shift from the usual physical work culture. It has also provided us with the opportunity to connect with the world, to collaborate with people
from across the globe and to explore newer avenues and new experiences, thanks to the varied online platforms of the virtual world.
Deshbandhu College for Girls took advantage of this opportunity by bringing in two very distinguished Speakers, both stalwarts in their own
fields. We were extremely fortunate and honored by having the pleasure of hosting Dr. Sugata Marjit and Dr. Syamal Roy in our webinar.
Dr. Sugata Marjit is the First Distinguished Professor, Indian Institute of Foreign Trade, he is a Former Chairman, West Bengal State
Council of Higher Education; Former, Director, Centre for Studies in Social Sciences, Calcutta & Former Vice Chancellor, University of
Calcutta. Dr. Marjit is the Project Director, Center for Training and Research in Public Finance. He is also the Policy Editor In Chief, South
Asian Journal of Macroeconomics & Public Finance (SAGE, India/UK).
Dr. Syamal Roy is a renowned Immunologist, an ICMR Emeritus Scientist, CSIR-IICB. He is a J.C. Bose National Fellow, DST; Former
Chief Scientist, CSIR-IICB. He was the Former Dean, NIPER, Kolkata, and Former Vice Chancellor, Cooch Behar Panchanan Barma
University.

968 views. The technical session also involved interactions between the Speakers and the live audience whose questions were taken from the live
chat during the broadcast. The webinar generated very good and positive feedback from the audience, who pointed on the importance of such
lectures and appreciated the efforts we had put in. The audience had an enriching experience gaining knowledge in both Economics and Modern
Immunological Research
