Deshbandhu College for Girls presented an online Cancer Awareness Programme in 

collaboration with Saroj Gupta Cancer Centre & Research Institute (SGCC&RI) and 

Calcutta Ekatma. We were honored to have amongst us the noted Speaker Prof. Dr. 

Chitta Ranjan Chowdhury, Academic Dean, The University of Bolton City of London 

Dental School, UK and Consulting Chief, Fellowship and Ph.D. Program of Oral and 

Head  Neck  Oncology  and  Reconstruction,  Saroj  Gupta  Cancer  Centre  &  Research 

Institute who delivered the keynote lecture on “Harmful Effects of using Tobacco & 

Nicotine  Replacement  Therapy”.  We  are  glad  that  he  could  take  out  time  from  his 

extremely busy schedule for our webinar. 
We are thankful to Saroj Gupta Cancer Centre & Research Institute and its Director 

Dr, Arnab Gupta for selecting us as their collaborative institute for conducting this 

awareness programme. Saroj Gupta Cancer Centre and Research Institute, also known 

as Thakurpukur Cancer Hospital is fully comprehensive, dedicated cancer hospital and 

is  a  recipient  of  many  National  and  International  acclaims.  It  is  recognized  by 

the World Health Organization and is a member of UICC (Union for International 

Cancer Control).

This YouTube video had been watched live by 

more than 350 participants with innumerable 

comments  and  live  chats  and  till  date  has 

achieved  1065  views.  The  technical  session 

also involved interactions between the Speaker 

and  the  live  audience  whose  questions  were 

taken from the live chat during the broadcast. 
This  event  also  showcased  a  ‘Thank  You 

Doctors’  presentation  created  by  the  students 

of Deshbandhu College for Girls as a token of 

gratitude  to  the  overwhelming  service 

provided by the medical fraternity in the time 

of the pandemic. 
Additionally 

we 

also 

marked 

the 

‘International  Day  against  Drug  abuse  and 

Illicit  Trafficking’  by  organizing  a  Poster 

Competition  for  the  students  of  the  College, 

which  were  presented  in  the  webinar  and  the 

winners were announced. 
The webinar generated very good and positive 

feedback  from  the  audience,  who  pointed  on 

the  importance  of  such  awareness  campaigns 

and appreciated the efforts we had put in.
